Summary

I develop attractive, usable web sites for business and other organizations. I utilize mod_perl and Apache integration for blazing fast response times and scalability, though I can operate efficiently in CGI environments as well. I have an excellent grasp of the issues surrounding webbased design and usability and can provide applications that are intuitive and responsive. My core competencies are:

Skills

Development Environments

Experience

Lint Web Design

January 2009 – Present Houston, TX Freelance Web Developer

At Lint Web Design, I develop websites for small businesses and organizations. I pay special attention to usability and accessibility in all my designs.

Miracle TV Corporation

September 2002 – September 2006 Houston, TX Senior Software Engineer

Miracle TV Corp. provides Internet and network services for Cable Networks. Their system can be found in various Hotels throughout Mexico. At the time of my departure, they were in negotiation with several Hotels and Cable providers in the U.S. While at MiTV, I developed Perl CGI interface to download email from POP and IMAP servers, as well as the Hotmail and Yahoo email services for display on TV settop boxes that do not have these capabilities of their own. I also developed a Daemon/Client system to allow settop boxes to utilize Instant Messengers from MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and ICQ. The system consisted of an HTML frontend that communicated with backend servers using XMLHTTP asynchronous transfers to silently check for new messages and initiate new conversations. The backend servers are RedHat enterprise servers running Apache. Because of the frequency of connections, mod_perl was chosen to handle the requests from settop boxes. The daemons were written in Object Oriented Perl, including several custom modules that I created for this purpose.

International E-Commerce / Visual Bridge, Inc.

August 2000-July 2001 Houston, TX Software Engineer

International ECommerce became Visual Bridge, Inc. shortly after I started. At Visual Bridge, I Worked with a team to create the company's showcase website using ColdFusion on a Solaris server running Oracle 8.0 as the backend database. I was also project leader for development of a PayPer View/Subscription based multimedia website. In this project, I was responsible for the database configuration, application flow/structure, and the general application design.

A Terra Nova Design Technologies, Inc.

December 1999 - July 2000 San Antonio, TX Web Developer

At A Terra Nova, I worked as a consultant to ServComp, Inc. based in Houston, TX, developing standardized coding techniques to enhance ServComp's ability to provide rapid development of customers' websites. I helped them develop a central code library to further enhance ServComp's ability to provide rapid development.

AudiologyOnline (private contract)

Summer 1999 San Antonio, TX ColdFusion Programmer

I created an online store in ColdFusion, including shopping cart, catalog, and credit card processing. Audiology Online is still using portions of the software I provided for them.

OAO Corp

April 1997 - December 1999 San Antonio, TX Web Developer

This was my first real development job after teaching myself basic html develoment. While at OAO, I learned ColdFusion, which I used to create web pages for a massive US Air Force web site.

Education

Texas Tech University

1994 - 1995 Lubbock, TX

My intention was to major in mechanical engineering and I took classes toward that goal. For a variety of personal reasons, mostly financial, I was unable to complete my university education.

Conclusion

I have been working and playing on the Internet for more than ten years. I have extensive experience that would be an asset to any organization involved in providing dynamic, scalable Internet solutions. I have a stable home environment and a fast, reliable connection that would make me an ideal candidate for a telecommute position. I am also willing to relocate, if necessary.
